Ethiopia Amaro Dernaye

posted 2011 Jul by Posterous

This is our second year that we have offered Ethiopia Amaro Dernaye and it is better than ever. This year we are offering it in the washed processing method. In the cup, aromas of lemon, Eucalyptus honey with a soft body and rich buttery, cocoa aftertaste. Subtly complex.

From the western slope of the Amaro Mountians, the smaller seed bolo variety coffee is more prevalent. Once blended in with other Sidamo lots, the Amaro Dernaye was separated for its unique cup profile by our coffee supplier Ninety Plus Coffees.

Coffee Profile- Costa Rica Santa Elena Espresso

posted 2011 Jul by Posterous

For July, we are excited for the return of Costa Rica Santa Elena Espresso. We had this coffee last year and was instantly a staff favorite. Flavors of pineapple, caramel and toffee are prominent in the cup, upfront sweetness with a long, silky finish.

Producer Luz Marina has a deep understanding of processing ripe coffee cherries and sustainable agriculture having grown up among coffee producers and playing among coffee trees as a child. The Tarrazú region of Costa Rica is a highly regarded appelation for ideal coffee growing conditions. Santa Elena Estate's practice of selective harvesting coffee at the peak of ripeness and meticously handling during processing is evident in the cup.

Available as espresso for July/ August in our cafes.
